-- Your Burning Questions Answered

After our two initial posts, we seem to be getting the same four questions...:

1. Is the floor plan exact?
-- Not entirely.  The left side of the house is going to be stretched two feet to give a little more room to the master, bedroom, bath, and closet.  The tub in the master bath is going to be taken out and replaced with a bigger shower.  The back patio is going to be covered and screened in.  Finally instead of the closet in the laundry room, we're going to have a utility sink.

2. What about the picture of the house?
-- That's not exactly right either.  The covenants of the neighborhood require all brick and stone.  The back and two sides will be all brick, while the front will be a mixture of brick and stacked stone.

3. What's next?
-- We have an appointment on Friday, January 6, to meet with a designer to make our first round of choices on things like brick color, shutter color, trim features, electrical layout, etc.  Once the first meeting happens, we go back in a second week to start picking out things like cabinet colors, wall paint, floor and carpet types, etc

4. When will it be ready?
-- Right now, the target is the week of Memorial Day (May 29, 2012).  The weather will affect that date a lot.  We'll know something a little more concrete around May 1, but right now, that is our target.
So, clear your calendars for Memorial Day weekend.  We may be having a pizza moving party*!!!

(*A pizza moving party is a party where we give you a slice of pizza if you help us move.  It is not a party where we move pizza around from one room to another.)

-- 7991 Hampton Cove on Google Maps

The below view is a little old.  There are a few more houses that have been built in the neighborhood since Google did their street view here.

Our lot is just to the left of the street light.

-- And So It Begins...

So... our first blog post.

Yesterday, we signed the papers.  It's a mix of excitement and nervousness.  We have until next week to start picking out outside features like brick color and shutter design, and indoor stuff like laying out an electrical plan.  Wheeee!

Our new home will be located at:
7991 Hampton Cove Drive
Ooltewah TN,  37363

The goal of this blog is to update regularly with any happenings, pictures, and thoughts.  Just for a record, and also to share with family and friends.

The first link I'll post is a link to our builder's website, and the plan for our home, Azalea Hall (keep in mind that this is the base plan, before our changes were put in):

Hopefully, we'll keep this blog up and not let it fall by the wayside.  :-)

Oh, and you can comment on this and let us know what you think...
